Quick Capsule Wardrobes
Last night I flew to Idaho to visit my sister and meet my new nephew. This was a planned trip. Planned as soon as I knew little Angus was coming! But then there was a sudden death in my husband’s family, and we needed to book tickets to England fast. I am coming back from Idaho on Tuesday night and leaving for England on Wednesday night. In between, I need to go to work. So there really isn’t any time to do laundry.
Wednesday night I put together two quick capsule wardrobes for my trips. One for a five day, six night trip, and the other for a nine day, eight night trip. The idea is that everything is more or less interchangeable and ready for diverse attire needs, and everything can be worn more than once. I like to travel light, and packing my bags and trying to be mindful with what I am bringing makes me feel more in control and less anxious. Planning a transatlantic trip with such little notice, on top of family tragedy really stressed me out.
My packing list for Idaho:

What’s in my bag (minus underwear, socks, toiletries & my nightgown):

+York Pinafore
+Black RTW mock neck (Everlane, bought last fall)

My packing list for England:
What I’m wearing on the plane:
Black Pants #2, RTW Jersey Dress that I usually wear to bed (doubling as my nightgown), compression socks, No Frills Cardigan, Black Sven Clogs
What’s in my bag:
+Black RTW dress for funeral (Universal Standard), plus a black sheer scarf to cover my head in the Gudwara
+ Black Pants #2
+ Peppermint Jumpsuit
+ Polka Dot T-Shirt
+ beloved RTW striped top from J Crew, like 8 years old now
+ Elizabeth Suzann Josephine Tunic (sadly this design is discontinued)
+ Fremantle Pants in Linen
+ Inari Tee
+ Acton Dress
+ Snag Tights in Mustard
+ Sneakers
+ old RTW raincoat, it’s supposed to rain a lot, it’s England
The weather looks like it’ll be fairly temperate and rainy in each place. Let’s hope these clothes see me through! How do you usually pack for trips?
*I have a genetic mutation that makes me more susceptible to blood clots, so I try to reduce my risk when traveling.
